Prandin is a medication used to treat diabetes. Prandin is available as a brand name drug or as a generic and comes as an oral tablet.

Prandin is a medication that contains the active ingredient Repaglinide. Prandin is used to manage type 2 diabetes.

Prandin stimulates insulin release from the pancreas cells to help control blood sugar in diabetes. It is an oral tablet that is typically taken 2-4 times daily.

Common side effects include headache, signs of a common cold, diarrhea, joint pain and back pain.

Take Prandin within 30 minutes before each meal you eat during the day. If you skip a meal, skip your Prandin dose. If a meal is added to the day, add a dose for that meal.

Prandin can lead to low blood sugar. Low blood sugar can cause symptoms of hunger, sweating, confusion, dizziness, headache, shaking, increased heartbeat and drowsiness.

If you feel like your blood sugar might be low, eat or drink 15 grams of carbohydrates, wait 15 minutes and then retest your blood sugar. Talk to your doctor if your blood sugar is low often.
