Camila is a medication used as birth control and used to treat other gynecologic conditions. Camila is available as a brand name or generic drug and comes as an oral tablet.

Camila is a birth control medication that can also be used to treat unusual uterine bleeding, help regulate menstrual cycles and treat endometriosis.

Camila is one brand name version of generic Norethindrone. There are a number of similar equivalents, including Nor-Qd, Heather, Nora-Be, Norlyda and Deblitane.

Camila is typically taken once daily. Camila stops ovulation, thickens cervical mucous and alters hormone concentrations to prevent pregnancy.

Side effects of Camila include headache, upset stomach, vomiting, cramps, bloating, dizziness, tender breasts, insomnia, acne and weight gain.

Camila should not be used as emergency contraception. It is also not indicated for use alongside estrogen in postmenopausal women with endometriosis.

If you use this medication to prevent pregnancy, it may not work as well if you throw up or have diarrhea. It is important to use a second form of birth control until you check with your doctor.

Do not smoke while taking Camila. Smoking while taking this medication can increase your risk of very bad blood clots and heart attack.
