Cefdinir is a medication used to treat a variety of infections. Cefdinir is available as a generic medication or a brand name, and it comes as an oral capsule and oral liquid.

Cefdinir is an antibiotic medication used to treat a variety of infections including ear infections, lung infections, sinus infections, skin infections, throat infections and exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

The brand name equivalent of Cefdinir is called Omnicef. Cefdinir is taken 1-2 times daily for 5-10 days or potentially longer, depending on what type of infection you are treating.

Cefdinir prevents bacteria from forming and kills bacteria in the body. Cefdinir is usually well tolerated, but a common side effect can be diarrhea.

Avoid taking antacids that have aluminum or any iron products within 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking Cefdinir.

Diarrhea is a common side effect of Cefdinir, but let your doctor know if it becomes severe or does not go away. This can be indicative of a more serious condition.
