Estrace is a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient Estradiol. Estrace is an oral medication that is taken one to three times daily depending on the condition being treated.
Estradiol is a type of estrogen and will help relieve symptoms and prevent or treat complications related to low estrogen levels.
The most common side effects of Estrace include headache, hair loss, nausea and vomiting, cramps and bloating, enlarged breasts, breast soreness, vaginal bleeding or spotting and painful periods.

This drug may cause dark patches of skin on your face. Avoid sun, sunlamps and tanning beds as much as possible. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing and eyewear.
Try to take this drug at the same time of day with or without food. Take it with food if it upsets your stomach.
The use of Estrace may increase the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women using conjugated estrogens in combination with medroxyprogesterone acetate. The risk declines once therapy is discontinued.
Estrace is also associated with a higher risk of endometrial cancer in women with uteruses.
Estrogens with or without progestin should not be used to prevent dementia or cardiovascular disease. An increased risk of blood clot, heart attack, pulmonary embolism and stroke has been reported with the use of medications like Estrace.
