Do not give the shot into any skin that is cut, bruised, red, scarred or irritated. Wash your hands before and after use.

Throw away needles after each dose. Do not reuse needles. Sharps containers are usually available at most pharmacies. You can also use a hard plastic container with a lid, such as a laundry soap container.

Lantus Solostar is an insulin medication that can cause your blood sugars to become too low. You’ll know if your blood sugar levels are too low if it reaches less than 70mg/dL or if you experience symptoms of shakiness, hunger, sweating, fatigue, rapid heart rate and confusion.

If your blood sugar is low, eat or drink 15g of carbohydrates and recheck your blood sugar after 15 minutes. If you experience low blood sugars often, tell your doctor.
