Pazeo (Olopatadine) Medicare Coverage

Pazeo is a medication that contains the active ingredient Olopatadine. Pazeo is used to treat allergic conjunctivitis or allergies of the eye that cause itching. It is used once daily in each eye.

Pazeo stops histamine from releasing into the eye, stopping allergy symptoms.

Common side effects of Pazeo include headache, blurred vision, eye irritation, dry eyes, feeling like something is in the eye, changes in taste and signs of a common cold.

Does Medicare cover Pazeo?

According to GoodRx, Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare Part D plans typically didn't cover Pazeo in 2023.¹

• Medicare Advantage plans or Part D plans that cover prescription drugs include copay amounts that can range widely from one plan to another. Plan members may also be responsible for meeting a deductible before the plan’s drug coverage kicks in.
  
  
• Medicare Advantage plans that offer prescription drug coverage are called Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans (MA-PD). 89% of 2024 Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug coverage.²

Pazeo is to be used in the eye only. Wash your hands before and after use.

If you have contact lenses, take them out before using this drug. Some contacts may not be able to be put back into the eye after you use Pazeo, so talk to your doctor before starting Pazeo. Do not put contacts back in if your eyes are irritated or seem infected.

Tilt your head backwards and drop Pazeo into the eye. Do not touch the tip of the container to the eye or skin. After use, keep your eyes closed and put pressure on the inside corner of the eye for 1-2 minutes to help the drug absorb.

Let your doctor know if you experience any changes in eyesight, eye pain or extreme eye irritation.
