Aetna Medicare Advantage plans
Aetna Medicare Advantage plans provide Medicare Part A and Part B coverage in one plan, which includes coverage for:
- Hospital care
- Skilled nursing facility care
- Hospice care
- Doctors' services
- Outpatient care
- Diagnostic services
- Medical equipment
Aetna Medicare Advantage plans also include coverage for prescription drugs, dental, vision, fitness benefits and wellness programs.

Aetna offers several different Medicare Advantage plan options, which include:
- Aetna MedicareSM (HMO)
- Aetna Medicare Premier (HMO)
- Aetna Medicare Prime (HMO)
- Aetna MedicareSM (PPO)
- Aetna Medicare Prime (PPO)

The Aetna Medicare (HMO) plan provides members with access to tens of thousands of network health care providers nationwide. In-network coverage may also be available when you travel, depending on where you are and your plan’s network coverage.
The Aetna Medicare Open Access Plan (HMO) plan also gives you access to tens of thousands of network providers nationwide, and it does not require a referral to see a specialist.
The Aetna Medicare Prime (HMO) provides access to a local provider network. You must use providers from within this network, except for out-of-network urgent care, emergency situations or renal dialysis.
The Aetna Medicare (PPO) plan combines the benefits of the HMO plan with the added flexibility to visit in-network and out-of-network health care providers.
The Aetna Medicare Prime (PPO) is similar to the Aetna Medicare Plan (PPO) and offers the flexibility to visit in-network and out-of-network providers and hospitals.
Aetna Medicare Advantage plans have an out-of-pocket maximum, which limits how much you’re required to pay out of pocket for your covered medical expenses in one year.
