Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B) includes some vision coverage, but it doesn’t cover most routine vision services, eyeglasses or contacts.3
An introductory, one-time vision test is included in your “Welcome to Medicare” preventive care visit when you get Medicare Part B coverage. Additional yearly visions tests are not covered. Medicare Part B covers some preventive or diagnostic eye exams.

Your prescription drug plan may cover certain eye-related medications if your doctor deems them medically necessary and they are included on the plan’s formulary.
